Competition Use Agreement
Required for Competition Vehicles
This agreement must be completed before applying any calibration that modifies emissions-related systems on a vehicle used exclusively for sanctioned competition events. This agreement creates a legally binding certification that the vehicle will never be operated on public roads.
Legal Background
The Clean Air Act provides a limited exemption under 40 CFR § 85.1703 for vehicles used solely for competition which are not used on public streets or highways. This exemption requires that:
- The vehicle is used exclusively for competition purposes
- The vehicle is never operated on public roads or highways
- The vehicle is properly documented as a competition-only vehicle
By completing this agreement, you certify under penalty of perjury that your vehicle meets these requirements and you accept full legal responsibility for ensuring continued compliance.
