About PulseWidth
Built by Subaru people who got tired of abandonware.
PulseWidth exists because the software side of Subaru tuning stopped keeping up with the cars. Tools went unmaintained, knowledge got locked in dead forum threads, and whole generations of ECUs were left behind. We build the tool we wanted to buy: current, careful, and honest about what it can and can't do.
One platform at a time
We don't support forty makes badly. We go deep on one Subaru ECU generation at a time: today that's the 16-bit classics, mapped, tested, and maintained. Newer generations get their own editions when they meet the same bar. When you ask a support question, the person answering knows what a wastegate duty table does.
Mapped by hand, not scraped
Our vehicle definitions are built in-house against real ROM dumps and verified on real hardware. When a table says it changes ignition timing, that's because we watched it change ignition timing, not because a fifteen-year-old forum spreadsheet said so.
Bench first, your car second
New flash routines run on our bench ECUs long before they touch a customer vehicle. The boring pre-flight checks in the app (checksums, processor match, voltage gates, stock backups) exist because we've seen what happens without them.
Old cars are not old news
The industry moved on from the 2002-2005 WRX generation years ago. We didn't. Our HC16 platform work gives those cars flashing, diagnostics, and live tuning that's better than anything they had when they were new.
Priced like a tool, not a toll
The Free tier carries the core HC16 workflow: read, edit, flash, log, and diagnose. A one-time vehicle license adds PulseWidth live tuning, encrypted projects, and selectable custom ECU features without an annual re-buy.
Legal on purpose
PulseWidth is advanced calibration and diagnostic tooling for trained users and professionals working to develop, validate, and maintain lawful emissions-compliant calibrations. ROM-level DTC access is gated behind mandatory account training and explicit opt-in; normal diagnostic reading, code clearing, and readiness viewing remain core tools. Training is not certification or a legal safe harbor.
